Internal Sales Engineer

Department – Sales

Full-time – Office based – Tarragona, Spain

Reports to – General Manager

The Company

Process Control Equipment Iberica is the Spain and Portugal division of the Process Control Equipment Group, a leading stockist and distributor of valves, automation, and instrumentation across the UK and Europe. A recognised company to the petrochemical, oil and gas, power, pharmaceutical, and food and beverage industries, with over 40 years of trading experience.

Role overview

The Internal Sales Engineer is a critical function within our business, as such the successful candidate will need to be able to work within a fast-paced environment and have the ability to work both independently as well as being a key part of the team, with effective communication skills both written and spoken, you will be commercially aware and have a desire to win.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare quotations for customer enquiries according to technical specifications.
  • Work on multiple enquiries/projects simultaneously.
  • Source quotations from potential suppliers for customer projects and tenders.
  • Order input and processing into our cloud-based ERP system.
  • Taking responsibility for assigned key customers and possible customer contracts.
  • Win new customers as well as service existing customers.
  • Address customer complaints / NCRs and together with the team, ensure these are solved.
  • Account management to recognise where cross-selling opportunities are available.
  • Address daily sales activities, quotations and tenders.
  • Keep close contact with the Area Sales Manager on pending topics and developments regarding customers, enquiries and quotes.
  • Maintain customer details on company systems.
  • Update and maintain key information within the company CRM tool
  • Recognise missed opportunities and make recommendations of new stock positions or higher stock levels.
  • Liaise with expeditor to ensure timely delivery of suborders.
  • Prioritise sales from stock and focus on slow-moving items.
  • Be prepared to travel accompanying Area Sales Managers’ visits to customers and suppliers for training etc as and when required.

Personal specification

Education

  • A degree in mechanical or chemical engineering, instrumentation qualification, or similar would be preferred but not essential.

Experience

  • Knowledge of industrial valves or similar for the oil-gas industry.
  • Previous experience in an internal sales role.
  • Experience of the process industry, process control, or allied industries.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and norms.

Skills 

  • Ability to use AUTOCAD (or similar software) to create 2D/3D designs would be desirable but is not mandatory.
  • Good level of English both written and spoken.
  • Driving licence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels.
  • Effective time management with the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Display team player skills with the ability to motivate others.
  • Able to use all packages within the Microsoft Office Suite.
